Ensuring Accessibility: Explore ADA Compliance With The QueuePro Series

Ensuring accessibility for all individuals is paramount in creating an environment that is both safe and secure. The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) stands as a cornerstone of legislation designed to protect the rights of people with disabilities and promote equal access to goods, services, employment, and more. As a business owner seeking to create an accessible environment in your customer queues, look no further than Crowd Control Company. Here at Crowd Control Company, we make it our mission to bring you a product that not only meets the ADA compliance guidelines but exceeds them.

This guide aims to provide clarity and guidance on ADA compliance in the customer waiting line. The guide not only showcases our products designed for ADA compliance, but also how to set up your queue system to ADA requirements. Whether you’re navigating ADA compliance for the first time or seeking to enhance your existing accessibility measures, this guide equips you with the knowledge and resources needed to foster inclusivity for all.

A.D.A Compliant QueuePro Twin 250

What are the requirements?

Height, Width, and Clearance:

ADA guidelines do not have a specific height requirement for stanchions to be installed at, but the lower edge of the belt or rope must not exceed a height of 27 inches from the floor surface when measured 12 inches away from the vertical post surface. This is so that visually impaired people using a cane can detect the protruding object without collision.

The width and clearance of a queue lane also matters when you have individuals that are wheelchair bound or disabled. The width of a passageway at points where there is a stanchion must not be less than 32 inches from the edge of the stanchion base. The width of a passageway should also not be less than 36 inches between belts on a continuous pathway unless an alternate means of passage is present for the disabled.

If a route makes a 180 degree turn around an element there must be a minimum of 42 inches of clearance between the belts if the turn is 48 inches minimum. If the turn is 60 inches minimum, then the route before the turn needs to be 36 minimum.

Some of our stanchions that meet the 27” floor height requirement for ADA compliance include:

QueuePro Twin 250:

The QueuePro Twin 250 features a cast iron base with decorative cover, full rubber floor protector, and a steel post making this stanchion a must have in high traffic areas. The twin belt configuration makes this stanchion ADA compliant as the lower belt is less than 27 inches from the floor. It also prevents users from ducking underneath and helps to keep children in line. Maintenance is quick and easy with the QueuePro Twin 250 as its 2-piece post design allows for the lower belt cassette to be easily changed if needed. This stanchion comes with belt brakes for slow, safe belt retraction and a locking belt end to prevent accidental belt release.

QueuePro Triple 250:

The QueuePro Triple 250 has the same specs as the QueuePro Twin 250, but with a third belt. The three belt design is the ultimate deterrence to ‘line ducking’ and is the most effective product on the market at keeping children in line. This stanchion is a lower cost alternative to using solid panels between stanchions. Just like the QueuePro Twin, the QueuePro Triple is ADA compliant with the lower belt being no more than 27 inches from the floor.
